Learning from interorganizational projects

Purpose The purpose of this study is to consolidate the existing research on interorganizational projects and explore how organizations learn by closely examining multilevel learning, that is, organizational learning. Design/methodology/approach This article adopts a single case approach, Islamabad–Rawalpindi Metro project in Pakistan, with data consisting interview results archival data. An inductive approach used for analysis. Findings empirically grounded learning model was developed based an following eight lessons: capacity building, personality traits leadership, working procedures, impeccable planning implementation, involvement stakeholders, design compatibility, investigation underground services, conditions maintenance databases, conceive rational timelines. These lessons learned were classified into three categories: (1) capacity, (2) embeddedness (3) collective awareness. Originality/value paper develops novel can deepen our understanding practices processes involved contributes extends literature studying setting.
